Heavy Bench May 6th
Got to the gym, ross , shawna , carmine and leo were there. Good vibe at the start, leo killed it with a 625lbs bench and a first time in the shirt. NUTS! I started like always , warm up -- 1 plate , 2 plate, 3 plate , shirt up and went right to 425lbs for 3 reps, felt awsome, then 455 for 3 reps, felt awsome, then pr with 475 for 3 reps, done!. Ross said thats big, boosted me up a bit so I reached my work set so now I have 3 sets left of 475lbs.. My second set was a disaster, wow. My first rep was horrible, shirt was all wrong, and bla bla bla, then ross said your doing three so lets go, I soldiered up did another, failed again but pushed hard, then i sat on the bench my hands were blue cuz of the wraps, my head was full of pressure, I got got down again and failed but pushed harder then ever. Came back and destroyed 2 more sets of 475lbs, felt Strong and i felt my line with every rep. Ross and shawna were very happy. Great night, shawna is getting strong, she got a good pr last night, its great motivation in the gym when everybody starts doing good. I was sitting down last week having a discussion with a couple of my peers, they said im strong but why do I do it, i said "do what". Why do you beat your body up, your eyes always red, marks on your arms and legs, cutting weight plus force feeding yourself, competing for no money, I didn't have an answer cuz I can't make them underrstand the drive that this sport gives you. Its like kirk kowalsky said when we lift heavy its like we blow a couple of gaskets in our head and were bit by the iron bug. Ive been body building for a good chunck of my life, but powerlifting has brought another level of intensity and familly like world to me. I love this sport, and montreal barbell and all there team is making this sport even better. Im very lucky to have my coaches and team that I have, im really looking forward to the pro/am. I think big things will happen. Can't wait for squat tmr,
Deadlift, Bench and Squat
Al Mehan came down from calgary to train with us. It was an amazing experience. I knew it was going to be a crazy lifting week! Deadlift was good, worked alot on grip . Bench was great, almost hit 550lbs. Im almost there, I was just burnt out at the end. Then came the squat, tried 7 plates for the first time in my new suit and it flew! Very happy with the week, learned alot. But my body needed a hell of a rest, my eyes are filled with blown blood vessels, im marked up on my arms from the shirt and my legs are marked from the squat. It was intense but worth it. Will see how it goes this week, im really looking forward to the next meet in june, my goal is to set the bench record in 242lbs class.
March 23rd Deadlift
Crazy night, ross and shawna chilled back to recuperate so it was carmine and I. We went up to 5 plates, Im getting better with my suit. Then ross put us to work on the rack with band resistance deadlift raises. We had 2 plates plus 2 bands, it was tough. Im fried today, I just feel beat up, Im going to update my diet just got a new stack and I love it.
STACK- Muscle juice / Myofusion / BCAA / Amadex HD(test booster) / Gold Carbs / Ovaltine
Shake - 3 scoops muscle juice, 1 scoop myofusion, 2 scoops bcaa, 2 tablespoons of ovaltine. Have that 3 time a day,
Workout- 1 scoop carbs, 2 scoops bcaa, gatorade powder to mask the taste of the bcaa ( Amazing energy threw the workout)
Ovaltine? Why do I put this in my shakes, well it has 5 essential nutrients, very good for you and it taste great,
Amadex HD - its the first time im using a test booster, i feel its doing wonders. I feel alot more dense and strong!
BCAA- Thats the key right there! BCAA are so important the athletes its just not popular enough for some odd reason. Its so important expecially for a powerlifter, we drain are bcaa's while we train, so its drastic that you give them back to your body.
""Branch Chain Amino Acids are the "Building Blocks" of the body. They make up 35% of your muscle mass and must be present for molecular growth and development to take place."".
* Also everyday when i get home from work i have one of my "special" shakes, 3 chicken breasts+500ML WATER+3 ICE CUBES, --!! I cook the chicken with no spices, its bizzare at first but it gets the job done. *
Friday 18th Bench
Good night at the gym, good team. Ross hit a huge bench pr 525lbs, proud of him hope he continues to do well. Carmine and I were doing reps with over 400lbs, felt good and got to work the shirt alot. I decided to do the pro/am in june, Im feeling good and my conditioning is getting alot better. This sport is my drug, it drives me and I love improving in it. Can"t wait for squat day tmr, ,
March 4th Heavy Bench
Well I was in a new shirt yet again.. Was a fast night I found, no rest time just go go go. It was different, I don't give a f*%$k im just there to train. Started with bands, I don't know how much we put but there was ALOT at the end. I eneded up with 530 on the bench, almost touched. The shirt was really tight, but starting to get it. My collarbone feels good, hope I could finnaly squat big this weekend.
March 2nd Deadlift
Walked right into an intense gym! All I saw was shany and joefrrey and alot of weights everywhere. Those guys are awsome, shany got a huge 530lbs pr, that girl is strong. Joeffrey's knee is all mest up, but the guy is lifting some heavy weights, very inspiring. After getting started it was carmine, shawna, and ross. Shawna got up to 4 plates, carmine and I were trying to get our technique down with our suits. It was intteresting, even tho I didnt lock up 5 plates, it flew up till my knees but it just felt wierd with suit. Gonna work on my grip, on to the next
March 1st Light Bench
It was suppost to be an easy night. It was ross and I, hes still a bit beat up since his squat pr, he took it easy. I pushed it a bit, got up to 3 plates with pauses. Collar bone started to say stop, went home iced it up, .
Monday Feb 28th Pain Update
Well it's been a week, I know just 7 days but I feel almost new. On a regular week with all my trainning and work I was getting around 45 hours of sleep a week. Thats's around 4-5 hours of sleep a night. Last week I slept 8 hours a night, plus a power nap here and there. About 60 hours of sleep last week. I also iced up my body alot, took some Ibuprofin pills, and rubbed some tiger balm on my soar parts. All I got to say is WOW! I actually feel like im recovering, I feel fantastic. I had everything down to key, my diet, my training, my mentality, but my sleep was the missing link to all this. I can finally be motivated to go to the gym and not be scared that my body will be to soar.
Found some good facts about sleeping, helped me alot..
THE NANO-NAP: 10 to 20 seconds. Sleep studies haven’t yet concluded whether there are benefits to these brief intervals, like when you nod off on someone’s shoulder on the train.
THE MICRO-NAP: two to five minutes. Shown to be surprisingly effective at shedding sleepiness.
THE MINI-NAP: five to 20 minutes. Increases alertness, stamina, motor learning, and motor performance.
THE ORIGINAL POWER NAP: 20 minutes. Includes the benefits of the micro and the mini, but additionally improves muscle memory and clears the brain of useless built-up information, which helps with long-term memory (remembering facts, events, and names).
THE LAZY MAN’S NAP: 50 to 90 minutes. Includes slow-wave plus REM sleep; good for improving perceptual processing; also when the system is flooded with human growth hormone, great for repairing bones and muscles.
Feb 23rd Deadlift
Good night, ross, shawna, cheryl, and carmine. The energy was up and down, but overall good night. I lifted 5 plates, almost got 5 plates and half. My grip is really week, gonna work on improving it. Ive been trying to figure out why im soar so much, I came to a conclusion that Im not getting enough sleep. I sleep about 4 hours a night, so my body is not recovering. Its the third night that ive been going to bed at 10 rather then 12-1 in the morning. Its very difficult but I feel alot better, minds clear and body feels better. Gonna try to get within 7-8 hours a night. If I could also get in a power nap in the afternoon. All in all, im excited to see how things will go, I love my trainning and my team. Can't wait to bench friday.
Feb 18th Heavy bench
Good group with ross, shawna, big leo, and carmine. Leo always brings huge support to the team, carmine lifted 5plates and half for a crazy PR. That guy is getting crazy strong. Ross tried out some new shirts, had good form and hes beggining to laugh at the heavy weights. Hes really confident now, great. Shawna was still a bit injured, but she lifted good and was great coaching. Well all I got to say about me is that i tried a new shirt was really tight but I could work it well. My body is just to banged up, im thinking about taking some time off, ill still go with team and do accesories and stuff, but the main lifts ill hold back. The collarbone is just fried, and my body feels like an 18 wheeler ran it over. I wake up and i feel pain, its been like that for a couple of weeks now.. Diets going good, gonna kick up the BCAA's alot more, 3 liters of water + around 10 scoops of Extend (bcaa) per day. Will see how that goes, im just taking it day by day now.
